Identity card
It is a document issued by the Mayor of your city of residence, whose purpose is to prove the personal identity of its owner. For Italian citizens the identity card can be a valid document for expatriation. It can be released in the presence of its cardholder provided with recent photos, old identity card or loss statement (“denuncia”) of the identity document. Minors must be accompanied by their parents. The validity period of the card varies according to the age of the cardholder at the time of issue, the expiry date is indicated on the back of the document.
